CriSyS is currently seeking a Full-Time CARES Clinician to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina.

What is the CARES Program?

In FY 2021, the Charlotte City Council approved $1.2m to launch the city’s first civilian response program for low level, non-violent 911 calls for service. The city launched the Community Assistance: Response, Engage, Support (CARES) Team in December of 2022, with one unit consisting of two clinicians responding to calls in the Central and Metro Divisions of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The team responds to 911 calls mainly related to homelessness and mental health. The team is embedded within CMPD and works closely with officers, the program coordinator through the city, and other community stakeholders.

As a CARES Clinician, you will respond to 911 calls for service, and proactively engage with individuals in the field. On the calls, you will assess, evaluate, and perform therapeutic intervention techniques, making appropriate referrals and developing a plan for the continuation of services for individuals served. You will also be responsible for incident documentation and will serve as the on-site resource for information and will collaborate with involved parties including families, friends, and community partners.
